Projector Lamp
Any projector need a lamp, the projector lamp is the heart of the projector, it is the one that reflect the light to the lenses and from there to the screen. The Lamp as any other bulb need to be replace sometimes.
In the market today there are many original and replacement lamps for virtually any LCD or DMD/DLP projectors ever made. In many cases the new lamp comes as a lamp module (house and reflector), easier to install, but some times only the lamp is available as individual part, but usually a bit more difficult to replace.
Different kind of Projector Lamp
The old LCD projectors used low cost halogen lamps, which reflect yellowish image and last about 50-100 hours, the next generation on LCD projector design to use metal halide lamps which last 1000-2000 hours and reflect much whiter, even bluish picture.
The latest projectors begun to use different variation of lamp technology, just because the new projectors are much lighter and brighter, these new lamps tend to continually become brighter, lighter and long lasting, which let the LCD and DLP projectors weighing just few kilos and produce few thousand ANSI lumens and can last between 3000-4000 hours before need to change the bulb.
The new Projector lamp technologies including: UHE lamps, UHP lamps, NSH lamps, Xenon lamps and P-VIP lamps.
How to protect your lamp
The most important to keep your lamp last longer is not to move the projector when its on or when its still hot, another great tip is when you replace your projector lamp try not to touch the glass of the bulb, your hand can leave some human oil, and when the lamp is hot it can cause some damage.
